Interior and fashion photography for Karl Lagerfeld’s new shop.
For this project, Karl Lagerfeld commissioned me to create images for the opening of his boutique in Málaga, a city that clearly reflects his cosmopolitan European identity.
The commission came directly from his production team in the Netherlands, who were moving swiftly between the offices in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, and was approved by the brand’s senior management in the Netherlands. The collaboration was direct, efficient and based on visual excellence.
I structured the shoot to honour the brand’s fundamental codes: clean geometry, tonal discipline, depth and precision in the materials. The lighting system was built around professional Profoto flashes, whilst optical control was managed using fixed focal lengths and circular polarising filters to control surface contrast and reflections, ensuring the space felt premium without appearing artificial.
The result was a polished and commercially powerful collection of boutique interiors, product portraits, brand collaboration moments and lifestyle groupings, designed to integrate seamlessly into a retail grid system for campaign and in-store storytelling.
What I liked most about the shoot was the clarity of expectations, the attention to detail and the respect for the craft. You can tell when a brand knows what it wants, values the photographer’s workflow and fosters a shared creative vision with confidence and freedom of execution.
Thank you, Karl Lagerfeld, for your trust.
